Route from Cotiza to the Los Venados Sector in El Ávila National Park

The Los Venados sector in El Ávila National Park is one of the spots best known to tourists who are not hikers, since the site can be reached by private vehicle or by shared route, in addition to the option of walking up the mountain. What is distinctive about the site is that it features an old colonial house and camping areas whose surroundings include restrooms, water taps, and shops where you can buy food. Nearby there is a small aerial-trail park for those who want something a bit more extreme, by means of a system of zip lines running from one tree to another. For those who wish to spend a pleasant time on the mountain without losing many comforts and without much planning, Los Venados is the ideal destination. How to Get There? It can be reached by private vehicle or by means of a route that departs from the Cotiza sector in the city of Caracas. On foot, you should set out from the Bellas Artes station along a route heading toward the San Bernardino district, get off at the stop nearest the “Cota Mil” highway, and begin the route from the “Loma del Viento” park-ranger post. Cost? The approximate cost for undertaking the route is 3 USD. What to Bring? 1.5 liters of water; the water taps along the way and in the Los Venados sector are plentiful.
